Water usage has increased in the UK by around 70% per person in the past 30 years, we appear to have plenty of rain, but our growing population and changing climate means water resources are under increasing pressure. When it does rain our hard landscaped urban areas and modern drainage techniques collect and transport water quickly which can often result in local flooding.
One way of reducing demand and saving money for metered water supplies is to collect and re-use rainwater, to provide non-drinkable water for activities such as garden irrigation, car washing, window cleaning, etc. In an average household, non-drinkable water use accounts for a third of all water consumption.
This award winning system collects and stores rainwater that would otherwise have gone down your drainage system or into the ground, allowing you to replace mains water with rainwater from your roof, patio or driveway. The construction uses a number of loadbearing cells which have a water-tight membrane on the base and sides, and a geofilter membrane covering the top. These cells form both the tank and the base to your patio, driveway or path and replaces most of the traditional stone sub-base.
The system filters out leaves and debris through the filtration chamber, water can then be drawn off via a pump for use as and when required.
